Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Facts
Girl Scouts of the USA is realigning councils
nationwide to provide higher quality and more plentiful resources and
opportunities for girls. Councils across the country are in various stages
of planning, merging and realigning.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts was
formed on Feb 1, 2008, when Girl Scouts, Patriots' Trail Council; Girl
Scouts of Southeastern Massachusetts and Girl Scouts of Spar and Spindle
Council joined to become one, vibrant, high-capacity organization. Girl Scouts
of Eastern Massachusetts is the largest organization serving girls and
women in the state. |
Mission
Girl Scouting builds girls of
courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Vision
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts will become the inclusive organization
of choice for girls in
grades K-12. Through the efforts of thousands of positive role models,
it will be a recognized leader in
advocacy for issues that affect girls, and the foremost authority on
leadership development for girls and young women.
Leadership Development
Girl Scouts continues to be the best personal
leadership development program for girls ages 5-17.
The program is girl-led and embraces a holistic view of leadership.
Through Girl Scouting, a girl discovers through exploration, and prepares
for a future full of enrichment. She connects with others to
understand their needs and takes action to make the world better.
The Girl Scout Program
Girls participate in Girl Scouting in a variety of ways. Many meet in
volunteer-led groups in their
communities, after school, in the evenings and on weekends. Others
experience Girl Scouting as an
enrichment program during the school day and through collaboration with
community partners.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts sponsors
programs and events that are affordable and enjoyable, and offers them
regionally and locally. There are fun, exciting opportunities for
exploration that foster leadership growth.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is
committed to reaching and serving a diverse group of girls from all
communities in the area. We offer a strong
progression of activities to appeal to the ever-changing needs and interests
of girls as they grow and mature. |

Volunteers
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts relies on talented adults from all
walks of life, of all ages and of both genders, and of all races, cultures,
religious views and socioeconomic levels to deliver our program to girls.
Volunteers with different skills and
interests are welcome and the council leverages their strengths for the
girls’ benefit. Our volunteer opportunities are diverse, offering everyone
the flexibility to support girls according to their interests, availability
and commitment.
Girl Scouts of the USA
Girl Scouts of the USA was founded in 1912. Since then it has been the
preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls – all girls – where, in
an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build
character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with
committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them throughout
life, like leadership, strong values, social conscience and conviction about
their potential and self-worth. |
